Building assets.  What could be more simple, more do-able for a community?  The 40 Developmental Assets is a list of assets that youth over the last five decades have identified as either present or missing from their lives, while indicating which thriving behaviors, and which risk-taking behaviors, they are engaged in.  Because of this research, rich with real-kid information regarding what they do, and what assets they possess, Kerr County can build an Asset Rich environment in which our youth can grow.

Partners in Ministry has created a collaboration of civic organizations, schools, youth serving groups, faith-based groups, businesses and citizens that has brought this exciting initiative to Kerr County.  A Youth Advisory Board, made up of area youth from Hunt in west Kerr County to Center Point in east Kerr County and all youth in between, have worked together to lead their peers to establish asset building activities in their school communities.  Through this board, youths' assets will grow while teaching our community how everyone can be an Asset Champion .

We send out a weekly Asset Message helping our community members understand how to build assets in youth everyday.  If you would like to receive this weekly email, contact Kay Tally-Foos.

Get on board!  Training, opportunities to work with youth in our county, and times to learn the smallest things you can do to be an Asset Champion are happening.  Join in making Kerr County one of the "100 Best Communities for Youth" awarded by America's Promise, an alliance dedicated to the well-being of children and youth.  For more information contact Kay or call the Partners in Ministry office at 792-3131.
