Church Leadership Academy
Leading Change Without Blowing Up the Church 302
Date: 20th May 2026
Location: Gateway Baptist Church – Mackenzie 1052 Mount Gravatt Capalaba Rd, Mackenzie QLD 4156
Time: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM (final timing to be announced)
Most leaders know change is needed. Fewer know how to lead it without creating unnecessary fallout.
In church contexts, change isn’t just strategic — it’s personal. It touches identity, relationships, and people’s sense of what matters. What looks like resistance is often grief, fear, or uncertainty.
This workshop helps leaders understand what’s really going on beneath the surface, and how to lead change in a way that is both faithful and wise. This is about how leaders lead change — not just how to roll it out.
A biblical framework for change in ministry
The difference between change and transition, and why people struggle
How to recognise and respond to resistance
How conflict develops during change — and how to de-escalate it
How to build support and shared ownership across a church
By the end of the day, you’ll be able to:
Articulate a clear case for change
Read where people are in the change process
Respond to resistance with greater confidence
Lead change without unnecessarily damaging trust or unity
Church leaders navigating change, or preparing for it. Especially helpful if you’re thinking, “We need to change… but I don’t want to blow things up getting there.”
